SciCan Ltd. is a major manufacturer and distributor of products in the healthcare industry, where the SciCan name has become well known for its proven innovation, high quality and dependability.

SciCan was formed in 1957 by Arno Zwingenberger to introduce successful European podiatry products into the Canadian marketplace. These medical products laid a solid foundation for SciCan’s success.

In the late 1980′s an R&D department was established by Arthur Zwingenberger to create a fast, compact autoclave. The result of this initiative, the Statim Cassette Autoclave, was released to the Canadian market in 1990. Statim was released in Europe in 1991 and then shortly thereafter into the United States via the newly created Pittsburgh-based subsidiary, SciCan Inc..

While the initial focus of the company was the Canadian healthcare market, SciCan’s current business includes dental and medical markets throughout the world. To this end, the company has sales representation and distribution in Europe, Central and South America, Africa, the Indian subcontinent, Australasia, the Middle East, Japan, Eastern Europe and Russia, and most recently, China.

In February 1934, founder Dr. Ludwig Schupp in Freudenstadt began manufacturing Black Forest bath additives.Even then, an extensive product range of liniments and bath additives was produced in addition to the plant extracts, such as rubbing alcohol, massage products, rheumatism preparations, oil baths or bath tablets.Many of these preparations are still being produced today, wherein the newest scientific knowledge is put to use along with lawful requirements, which, however, does not lower the value of the tradition.And it is not different when developing new preparations. Here, special value is placed on the use of natural raw materials, naturally pure essential oils, and protective and nurturing substances. SCHUPP’s preparations are used in all places where health and well-being are at the Center of attention, from pharmacies via physical practice and rehab clinics to the wellness oases in major hotels and baths – where qualified wellness applications are at home.

The company had grown well beyond the developing stages as early 1950; it moved into larger facilities outside Freudenstadt, in Dornstetten-Aach. A few years later, the son of the company founder, Eduard Schupp, took over the leadership of the company. It is due to his forethought and willingness to take risks that SCHUPP has attained its present position in the trade. The product range has been expanded to meet market demands; in particular, devices for physiotherapy were added to the product offerings.

Today, SCHUPP supplies nearly everything which is required for physiotherapy. The extensive product range and the technical development of the device assembly required more space; therefore, the second Schupp plant was inaugurated in Loßburg-Wittendorf in 1993. Today, this houses the distribution offices, device assembly and showrooms / sales rooms, in which nearly the entire product range can be experienced “live“.

In order to guarantee the quality of products as well as other services, SCHUPP, as one of the first companies in its field, had its quality management system certified as early as 1997. This QM system is lived and continuously developed further.In this way, the change to the new standards of DIN EN ISO 9001 (2000) and DIN ISO 13485 (2002) was completed successfully in December 2003.

About us

•In 1987 Schulze & Böhm Elektrotechnische Vertriebs GmbH has been founded by Andreas Schulze and Uwe Böhm in order to develop dermatologic as well as cosmetic exposure devices.
•In 1989 in cooperation with the University Dermatologic Clinic in Cologne, under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Gustav Mahrle, the isodosis procedure has been developed. It is a completely new method to measure out the exact dosage UV exposure with the help of very high tech computer software.
•In 1990 the first computer controlled medisun UV cabin with isodosis went into series. Soon other cabin types followed which were successfully installed in many dermatological practices and clinics.
•In 1995 Schulze & Böhm expanded the program and offered the complete planning and installation of balneo-photo-therapy departments.
•In 1996 the first medisun UVA1 high dose therapy bed for the treatment of neurodermatosis has been developed. Until today more than 70 computer controlled UVA1 therapy beds have been installed and successfully operated.
•In 1998 we received the certification for medical devices in accordance with ISO 9002.
•In 2000 we have supplemented our product range with the world-wide first UVA1 hand and foot system medisun HF-8001. With the help of this device both hands and feet can be treated computer controlled by the same time.
•2002 our new professional series of uv-cabins medisun 2800 and medisun 6311 with PC- or mc-control was presented. The advantages of these systems are maximum safety, ergonomical software for high precision dosage, long life and easy operating.
•2003 we could introduce the new series of uv-cabins medisun 2800LC, which is distinguished by modern technology and very low prices. The most economic decision.
•2003 successful recertification according EN ISO 13488 for medical devices
•In 2004 we offer the new developed skintest and MED-system medisun Gigatest 1 for a low price. The result is no more dangerous overdosing and no more inefective underdosing uv-treatments.
•2004 new products for home-treatment and wellness.

The SISS BABYCONTROL® plus monitor monitors the respiration function of babies and infants and can thus provide reliable assistance against “cot death”. High reliability, simple operation and convenient size make the SISS BABYCONTROL® plus monitor a universally applicable instrument for babymonitoring in hospitals, in the home or while traveling in a car or baby carriage. The “external signal generator” allows monitoring to take place in an adjacent room. Regular breathing is indicated by a light-emitting diode (LED), while any alarm is given visually as well as audibly.
