RENOLIT AG is an international leader in the manufacture of high-quality thermoplastic films and products. This independent family-run business, which has been setting benchmarks for quality and innovation for 60 years, now employs a workforce of approximately 4,000 employees at its 32 production sites and sales companies. The company, founded 1946 in Worms, Germany, started out by manufacturing films for furniture upholstery and office supplies. Already ten years later, RENOLIT made its first stride towards the European market by forming a Spanish subsidiary. Ever since, the executive management has consistently pursued the globalization of sales and manufacturing. As a result, our second largest production site was established in the U.S.A. in the late nineties.
In April 2006, RENOLIT AG integrated the Industrial Foils Business of SOLVAY S.A., Bruxelles, into the company group. This enabled the company to expand its product portfolio into new application areas as well as to increase its production- and research competence. The newly acquired product categories were put into three new sales divisions: RENOLIT MEDICAL, RENOLIT WATERPROOFING and RENOLIT AUTOMOTIVE.
RENOLIT plastic films can be used to add a finishing touch to furniture surfaces, construction elements and hi-fi products, to seal off structural bodies, landfill sites and roof structures or to line swimming pools. RENOLIT produces films and tubes for medical applications such as blood bags and also manufactures recyclable panels as composite products with natural fibres for the construction and automotive industries. In addition, RENOLIT films are used to produce office organisation products, interior trims for motor vehicles as well as self-adhesive products and technical items.

Product Information of Product Category Universal medical commodities Blood and blood components 30.09.2009 The packaging of blood and blood components is known as one of the most critical applications, the developments are frequent and the requirements are increasing every day.
The product range Solmed is known as the world wide market leader for the basic materials for the manufacturing of blood bag systems. The Solmed Transfufol® and ES blood bag films are supplied to the world’s leading manufacturers of blood bags and blood processing systems. Important factors are the consistent and reliable quality of the films, often custom made in co-development with our customers.
Some features are: superior embossing stability during the steam sterilization procedure, guaranteeing the non-blocking properties on both sides of the film. Different surface structures are available enabling a good blood separation both on automatic as well as semi-automatic fractionation machines. The compositions of the Transfufol and ES films have been carefully tested for their blood compatibility.
Various formulations are available, including DEHP, TOTM and citrate plasticized films. Special PVC and polyolefin compounds offer high oxygen and carbon dioxide permeability for platelet storage. Thickness ranges from 0.20 to 0.75 mm, width ranges from 50 to 750 mm and for some film types 1350 mm.
The specially developed film processing technique combines the advantages of calendering and extrusion, resulting in a superior batch-to-batch consistency. The strict clean room conditions, web cleaning technology and in-line cutting guarantee a low particulate level.
