Innovative Biotechnological Test Systems
The Berlin-based rennesens GmbH develops and manufactures innovative rapid tests. In 2003 the company succeeded in developing a new generation of lab-independent tests for the detection of Acute Myocardial Infarction – CardioDetect“.
It is the first test available world-wide using h-FABP as an early infarction marker. That particularly small protein can be detected as soon as 20 minutes after an infarction, eliminating the need to wait for hours for Troponin. The corresponding shift in treatment onset may save the life of many patients.
The Test is available in two versions – one for medical specialist and another one for private use. Both versions are CE approved.

Product Information of Product Category Evaluation appliances CardioDetect® rapid tests 22.10.2009 The rapid tests from rennesens GmbH together with the reader CardioDetect® quant compose the product line CardioDetect®. It is used to verify or exclude an acute myocardial infarction.
CardioDetect® is the first rapid test worldwide using the highly specific early marker h-FABP. Until now the h-FABP concentration in blood could only be determined via lengthy laboratory tests. This neutralized the time advantage of this marker. The fast bedside test CardioDetect® now allows to take full advantage of h-FABP for a significantly earlier diagnosis.
CardioDetect® can be used directly with whole blood, serum or plasma. It can be used anywhere, due to its ease of handling and compact size. A range of versions is available covering the various areas of application:
CardioDetect® med – detects h-FABP in whole blood, serum or plasma
CardioDetect® combi – detects additionally the late marker Troponin I
CardioDetect® lab – detects h-FABP in serum or plasma
CardioDetect® self – specifically designed for home use by risk patients
The tests are ideally suited for emergency units like ambulances, emergency rooms, first aid departments, rescue units, etc. Furthermore they are helpful for all institutions taking care of risk persons, e.g. cardiology departments, rehabilitation centres, old people’s and nursing homes as well as for offices of general practitioneers and cardiologists.
Furthermore, risk patients can help to speed up the diagnosis by using the test while they wait for the emergency unit.

Product Information of Product Category Rapid tests – clinical chemistry CardioDetect® quant 22.10.2009 Certain clinical situations require a quantification of the h-FABP concentration. The new reader CardioDetect® quant provides such quantifications extremely fast and cost effective.
The system measures the intensity of the Result-line of CardioDetect® rapid tests. The system is operated via a computer connected to the reader. A complete measurement cycle takes less than a minute. The measured data as well as a picture of the test are automatically stored and can be printed out. The reader can be used with the following tests: CardioDetect® med, CardioDetect® combi, and CardioDetect® lab.
