The complex system of the intensive rehabilitation of children presenting with impairment of the locomotor system is based on the method of dynamic proprioceptive correction (DPC), which has been developed by Doctor of Medical Sciences Prof. K.A. Semenova. The DPC method consists in exerting influence on the analyzer systems of the brain with the use of a potent proprioceptive flow of stimuli occurring during the active physical exercises practiced by the patient inside the Gravistat® /Graviton® device. This device has been developed and is currently manufactured in collaboration with the Ogonek research-and-production center. Its design is based on the scientific knowledge as regards the influence of the gravitational field of the Earth on the formation of the physiological processes in human organism such as development of postural reflexes and relationships and the vertical posture of humans. This device provides a dosed axial loading simulating the Earth’s increased gravitational forces and correction of postural relationships between certain motor segments of the body. It also allows to decrease the initially high tonus of spastic muscles. This device stimulates the development of both, motor skills and emotions, strengthens the will to live, confronts depression, hopelessness, and helplessness , as well as improves the memory, speech and language skills and thinking patterns.

The product range Solmed is known as the world wide market leader for the basic materials for the manufacturing of blood bag systems. The Solmed Transfufol® and ES blood bag films are supplied to the world’s leading manufacturers of blood bags and blood processing systems. Important factors are the consistent and reliable quality of the films, often custom made in co-development with our customers.

Some features are: superior embossing stability during the steam sterilization procedure, guaranteeing the non-blocking properties on both sides of the film. Different surface structures are available enabling a good blood separation both on automatic as well as semi-automatic fractionation machines. The compositions of the Transfufol and ES films have been carefully tested for their blood compatibility.

Various formulations are available, including DEHP, TOTM and citrate plasticized films. Special PVC and polyolefin compounds offer high oxygen and carbon dioxide permeability for platelet storage. Thickness ranges from 0.20 to 0.75 mm, width ranges from 50 to 750 mm and for some film types 1350 mm.

The specially developed film processing technique combines the advantages of calendering and extrusion, resulting in a superior batch-to-batch consistency. The strict clean room conditions, web cleaning technology and in-line cutting guarantee a low particulate level.

RENOL’s view is to approach the idea of patient safety from a new angle and in a way we will describe as “progressive” such that the concept of the brace is perceived differently. When the risks of falling and serious injury to which the patient is exposed are assessed objectively and the prevalence of the brace has been properly evaluated, we find it is not always necessary to immediately resort to so-called “strong” methods. Consequently, solutions that are alternative, preventive and even often complementary to the immobilisation methods can be considered. For this reason RENOL has perfected a wide range of ergonomic and multi-functional positioning products designed to stabilise the patient in the chair or bed to anticipate any accident. Cushions, various appropriate protective devices that are suited to a comfortable and optimal position, prove to be a fully fledged medical aid and a real help to the care dispensed by nursing staff. When the situation is such that position holders are inevitable, these are preferably used alternatively with cushions or protective devices to make the patient as safe as possible but also to preserve his comfort (freedom of movement) and therefore his physical and mental integrity.

From an ethical viewpoint, the perceived image of the brace is tinged with negative connotations, especially where its use with elderly patients is concerned. The use of position holders is often a source of questions from nursing staff. “Is it really necessary? How is the patient seen, both by himself and those around him? What about the relationship between patient and nurse? Are there no more serious dangers than actually falling? How can we maintain the dignity of the patient while making them as safe as possible?” We therefore had to remain aware of the needs of and risks run by the patient, but also remain in touch with the difficulties encountered by nursing staff. We applied ourselves to satisfying their respective needs: the safety of the patient and the serenity of the nurses.

The Berlin-based rennesens GmbH develops and manufactures innovative rapid tests. In 2003 the company succeeded in developing a new generation of lab-independent tests for the detection of Acute Myocardial Infarction – CardioDetect“.

It is the first test available world-wide using h-FABP as an early infarction marker. That particularly small protein can be detected as soon as 20 minutes after an infarction, eliminating the need to wait for hours for Troponin. The corresponding shift in treatment onset may save the life of many patients.

CardioDetect® is the first rapid test worldwide using the highly specific early marker h-FABP. Until now the h-FABP concentration in blood could only be determined via lengthy laboratory tests. This neutralized the time advantage of this marker. The fast bedside test CardioDetect® now allows to take full advantage of h-FABP for a significantly earlier diagnosis.

CardioDetect® can be used directly with whole blood, serum or plasma. It can be used anywhere, due to its ease of handling and compact size. A range of versions is available covering the various areas of application:

CardioDetect® med – detects h-FABP in whole blood, serum or plasma

KG wurde 1919 durch Richard Pflaum in München gegründet und hat sich vor allem aufgrund der Verdienste der Verlegerin Frau Beda Bohinger zum führenden Fachverlag für Physiotherapie, Naturheilkunde, Beleuchtungs- und Elektrotechnik und Ernährungshandwerk entwickelt. Das Verlagsprogramm umfasst heute Fachzeitschriften, Fachbücher, Formulare, elektronische Medien und Internet- Portale für die entsprechenden Berufsgruppen.

Dem Gründungsjahr 1919 folgten politisch und wirtschaftlich wechselvolle Zeiten, durch die der Verlag erfolgreich geführt wurde. Das Schwergewicht legte Richard Pflaum schon damals auf Zeitungen und Zeitschriften, wobei er geschickt zwischen Altüberkommenem und Neuartigem abzuwägen wusste. So verlegte er neben den Zeitschriften Alm und Weide und Die Torfwirtschaft auch Die Wasserkraft sowie Licht und Kraft – Veröffentlichungen, die vor 80 Jahren alles andere als selbstverständlich waren. Der zweite Weltkrieg mit seinen Folgen unterbrach zunächst die geschäftlichen Verbindungen.

Nach Ende des Krieges entstand mit der Lizenznummer 172 der US-Militärregierung 1946 der neue Pflaum Verlag. Anfang einer bemerkenswerten Erfolgsgeschichte in der deutschen Medienlandschaft und Beispiel für den Aufbauwillen dieser Unternehmergeneration. Mit 19 regelmäßig erscheinenden Publikationen auf den Gebieten der Medizin, der Verwaltungspraxis, der Kundenbetreuung sowie des Gewerbes und des Handwerks war der Pflaum Verlag der größte bayerische Zeitschriftenverlag.

Das KLAPPsche Kriechverfahren gehörte im letzten Jahrhundert zum Standard der konservativen Behandlung bei Kindern und Jugendlichen. Indikationen waren Störungen der Haltung und Deformitäten der Wirbelsäule, insbesondere die Skoliose. In den letzten drei Jahrzehnten wurde das Kriechverfahren verdrängt, zum Teil vergessen – zu Unrecht!

Dieses Buch vermittelt einen Einblick in die Entstehungszeit des Kriechverfahrens, in die Wirkungsweise und die Etablierung der Methode, es zeigt aber auch auf, dass das Verfahren Änderungen erfuhr, um in seiner Wirkung den heutigen Behandlungsstrategien zu entsprechen.

Vorgestellt werden die KLAPPschen Kriechübungen in Wort und Bild, außerdem als bewegte Bilder auf DVD – die Technik macht dies möglich. Damit wird einerseits allen interessierten Physiotherapeutinnen und Physiotherapeuten, auch denen, die es werden wollen, Anleitung zum Lernen und Lehren geboten, andererseits erhalten die jungen „Patienten“ effektive Hilfe beim Lernen und beim selbständigen Üben zu Hause.

Die Ursachen müssen wir uns erst bewusst machen, häufig liegen sie in unseren alltäglichen „Lieblingshaltungen“, wie dem „Einbeinstand“, „Einpositz“, „Einseit-blick“, „Rundrücken“ etc. Fehlhaltungen werden so eingeübt und sind schließlich unsere schmerzhaften täglichen Begleiter. Besonders in Phasen physischer und psychischer Belastung können wir uns ihnen kaum mehr entziehen.

Das vorliegende Therapiekonzept, das sich an Patienten und Therapeuten gleichermaßen wendet, setzt bei den Ursachen an. Das Plädoyer der Autorin lautet: Mobilisieren – Koordinieren – Zentrieren – Stabilisieren – Entlasten. Als Orientierungsmitte und allzeit verfügbares Übungsgerät benützt sie den Türrahmen. In ihm lassen sich die schmerzver-ursachenden Fixierungen ergründen, unterbrechen und abbauen durch entlastende Positionen und Bewegungsbahnen. Mit Hilfe diagonaler Bewegungsmuster, vor allem durch die gegenseitige Verstärkung von Armen, Beinen, Kopf und Rumpf wirkt diese Methode gezielt in den jeweiligen Problembereichen.

Treffende Karrikaturen helfen beim Wiedererkennen eigener schmerzbringender Gewohnheiten und motivieren dazu, sich im Türrahmen gegen den Schmerz zu stellen. Die Übungen sind auch für Nicht-Therapeuten leicht nachzuvollziehen.

Die Theorie, die hinter jeder Rehabilitationsbemühung steht, muss die Prinzipien der therapeutischen Übung definieren, aber auch Hypothesen aufstellen über die bestmögliche Analyse, Interpretation und Prognose der Pathologie. Die vorliegende Sammlung von Fachbeiträgen will diesem Anspruch gerecht werden mit dem Ziel, anhand einer kohärenten Interpretation der Pathologie die am besten geeigneten Rehabilitationsinstrumente zu erkennen und die Zusammenhänge zwischen Pathologie und motorischer Beeinträchtigung zu erforschen.

Ausgehend von einer Interpretation der Pathologie, die von der traditionellen klinischen, neurologischen oder orthopädischen Sichtweise deutlich abweicht, wird hier also ein neuer therapeutischer Ansatz vorgestellt. Denn die Beurteilung eines Patienten durch einen Therapeuten, der einen Rehabilitationsplan erstellen soll, ist notwendigerweise eine ganz andere als die des Chirurgen oder Neurologen, die die operative oder medikamentöse Behandlung verordnen, muss diese aber natürlich mitberücksichtigen.

Zahlreiche praktische Beispiele für die so entwickelten Kognitiv-therapeutischen Übungen nach Perfetti illustrieren den Erfolg und die Anwendungsbreite in der neurologischen und orthopädischen Rehabilitation.
