Industry & Investment NSW
Industry & Investment NSW is the economic development agency of New South Wales and its capital Sydney.
The new Department has been established to help build a diversified State economy that creates jobs. We aim to attract investment to NSW and support innovative, sustainable and globally competitive industries through our strong technical, knowledge and scientific capabilities. We do this through effective partnerships with our industry sectors and by linking them to our States knowledge and skills capacity.
the Department of Industry & Investment, trading as Industry & Investment NSW, has over 4000 staff in approximately 170 locations across NSW, and several staff overseas.
In keeping with the NSW Government’s reforms to provide better services to the people of the state through more integrated services and less red tape, Industry & Investment NSW brings together a number of former NSW Government departments and authorities. These partner agencies are:

Medical Device Industry in New South Wales
New South Wales (NSW), and its capital Sydney, represent Australia’s largest and most dynamic economy and are leading centres for medical device development.
NSW is home to 45 per cent of Australia’s devices industry. In 2007-2008, NSW accounted for A$1.14 billion, or 74 per cent, of Australia’s total medical equipment exports.
The State has strengths across the broad spectrum of medical device innovation, including: laboratory equipment, diagnostics devices, general hospital supplies, surgical equipments, biomedical devices and implants, monitoring equipment, imaging equipment, drug delivery systems, health-related software, dental equipment and other medical devices.
NSW is home to a mature and skilled medical workforce of clinicians, medical researchers, engineers and expert healthcare professionals working in a broad range of therapeutic areas. NSW is also an ideal location to conduct clinical trials.
Medical device companies in the State, ranging from start-ups to international market leaders, are actively seeking to expand their networks of customers, distributors and partners.
